Steps need to be taken to upgrade wordpress manually.
• Need to take backup of your website, using updraftplus wordpress plugin or from FTP.
• Need to download latest’s wordpress version from wordpress.org
• Before copying the files to server, first you need to uninstall all the plugins in your current wordpress site, because if some of the plugins will not support the latest version of the wordpress, it may broke down when you upgrade.
• Extract latest wordpress files to local system.
Now copy the latest wordpress files to your local system Xampp -> htdocs->Project folder.
Here we need to remove wp_content folder from your latest version of wordpress, why should we remove wp_content folder? Here most of the blogs have lot’s of content in the project, to carry same content to updated version we need to move backup of wp_content to latest version of the wordpress.
After that need to update database name and username, password in wp_config.php .now let’s open the browser and type as
If you want to check the updated version of wordpress,just go to wp-admin ,you will navigate to update database screen to update database, which looks as below.
In the above screen you need to click update wordpress Database button, once the database up gradation completes, it will show below screen.
Now click continue button to navigate to your website, now login to admin panel and check the latest version of your wordpress.
